I was searching online for a place to buy an iphone. I came across this website that had 16gb 3gs iphones for @199.00 and 32gb 3gs iphones for $299.00. I asked a few questions about them i.e. unlocked, original apple and so on. They replied promptly to my questions. I wanted 2 for my kids but was going to order a total of 6(which on their website states that is the max). I wanted to use paypal and when I tried it would not let me. They said this was a promotion and they could not accept credit cards only cashiers checks. I was a little suspicious but it seems legitimate. I sent the bank check priority mail on 11/5 for $1593.86. I could never reach anyone on the phone but emailed to see if they got my check. they said yes. I asked when I would see the shipment and they said once the check was posted it would take 3-5 days.
I kept checking and emailing all through November with only backordered answers until I didnt get any other answers. I knew at that time that I was scammed. I did some research and traced who signed for the package that the check came in. It was signed for ty an A Harris at 701 N Green Valley Pkwy in Henderson, NV 89074 I also found a forum where other people had been scammed too. When I went to my bank to see if I could stop payment they said because it was a bank check they couldn’t. They did say that the check was cashed on 11/12 at a TD Bank in Lewiston, ME. It is a legit bank according to my bank What I did next was to file a police report with my town in Rochester, NY and also Henderson, NV. The officer told me they went to that address and found the A Harris who is just a front desk clerk. She said that iphone gear usa is a virtual customer of theirs and only picks up their mail there. They could not tell the police officer the phone# or address of the person picking up the mail. The Henderson police were going to try to get an administrative subpoena so that they had to give it out but I have not heard anything. I reported it to Better Business Bureau, and the internet scam line but havent gotten any response yet Do you have any other ideas for me? Thank you in advance Sue
