Website Traffic Scams – What Are You Really Getting
Wow, you talk about scams that are killing the legit SEO world. I do a lot of SEO for my websites I run and these really caught my eye. To be honest with you they pissed me off. First, and before I get into detail about these “traffic scams” you have to understand that if someone is promising you a ton of traffic in a short amount of time something is probably too good to be true. Web traffic takes time to get and does not happen overnight unless you are a PPC guru (which I am not.) These are so popular among business owners, site owners, ect. because they all want more traffic to their website. However, truth on what you are really getting will be exposed in this article.
Also, newbie affiliate marketers are falling for these like crazy. Chances are they are struggling to get web traffic ,and these scams seem quite appealing to them. I will be not talking about black hat seo techniques, or gray market techniques. I want to talk about flat out scams that are ripping people off like you wouldn’t believe. All these are fake traffic and do NOTHING for your website. Don’t fall for these “website traffic scams” anymore.
Popups Scams
How annoying is it to go to a website and be bombarded by pop-up windows. I know it pissed me off to. My initial reaction is screw this site I am leaving. However, these scams are dying breed; they were very popular in the 90′s but are really being exposed nowadays. Getting traffic from a system that just puts you in a popup window is not real traffic. In fact, check your bounce rate if you don’t believe me.
Popunders Scams
Well if I talk about popups I guess I should probably touch upon popunders too. These are a sneaky tactic that shady “website traffic scams” are burning people with. What do I mean? Well, when you leave a website and close your browser you will see another site. You will immediately click out. People that sell web traffic are integrating these into their systems which does the webmaster no good. Again, if you don’t believe me check your bounce rate.
Phony Machines Scams
Now it is time to talk about just flat out fake machines that are set up to trick the search engine or person that paid for this “instant traffic.” They basically set a bunch of scripts change the visitor to make it look like they are coming from somewhere else. Bad news, and this can actually get your site banned.
Proxy Scams
You want to talk about the dirtiest of the dirty. Then you can talk about proxy scams. These are truly evil. You site will be on a list or even sold to other proxy scammers. Basically, these are used to mask the scammer why they spam and trick people to click on their site. There have even been a number of reports of people developing viruses that can effect a large amount of people at once.
How Do You Know If You Have Been Scammed?
It is really easy to see. First, just check your logs. How long did the people stay on your site? Did everyone that was from a site where you paid for the traffic stay for 1 second? Keep in mind when you really do have interesting content people will look at your site. It is not at believable that 100,000 people did not take more than 5 seconds to look at your site.
There are all sorts of these scams plaguing the Internet? Please don’t waste you money on these “website traffic scams” anymore. Have you came across any? Please let me know by contacting me. I take every email very seriously and if I feel that it is a legitimate claim I will post it on my site ASAP.
